Mission Trips
The purpost of Solid Rock is to empower youth to serve, love, connect, and impact todays world through God’s grace! Every summer we pack up and head out into our world to accomplish all of these things on a week long mission trip. We find it is a key to the faith development of students to act out their faith in service and be the hands and feet of Jesus!
About Solid Rock Mission Trips:
We develop our trips from scratch and follow the biblical structure for the fellowship of believers in Acts 2:42-47.
“They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.”
Our trips are for anyone entering 9th grade through graduating 12th grade. Friends and non-members are welcome and encouraged to come as well! We do these trips to 1) serve others the way Jesus served and 2) to grow in relationship with each other, God, and His people. Throughout the week we focus on teaching as we discuss our journey in small groups. We delve into the culture in which we are serving by site seeing and enjoying fellowship with each other at fun outtings throughout the week. We work extremely hard and focus on serving with a servants heart giving as much as we can to those in need. Because we work so hard we make sure we eat extremely well! We break bread with each other and take our good food very seriously! And we worship and pray together each and every night with fun live music, short stories, readings, and skits. We have a very high standard in which we hold these trips; we have seen life giving and life changing experiences with these trips and we encourage everyone to participate!
Adult Leadership:
Because we do hold these trips to such high standards, we also hold our adult leaders to high standards. Adult Leaders are hand picked by Kenny Champagne (Minister for Youth & Media) and go through much training. Many of the adults who lead with Kenny are regular Solid Rock Staff Members who serve with the group throughout the year. However, some parents are also selected. The adult leaders are generally selected by November and begin to meet and plan the trip at that point. The team meets on a regular basis holding training, and planning session to prepare almost all year for this trip. Adult leaders are not only expected to help lead the students throughout the trip but they are asked to take a piece of the trip and plan and implent that piece as well. If you are interested in being an adult leader for this years mission trip please contact Kenny.
